Morning
on Oak Hill
Welcome to
the artist's back yard! The studio of contemporary
impressionist painter Stephen Henning lies just beyond the
edge of the canvas, on the right. This view, painted en plein
aire (in the open air), captures the morning light of a fresh
summer's day in the rolling hill country of the Alexandria
moraine, not far from Minnesota's second highest promontory --
Inspiration Peak. Visitors are always welcome to the artist's
studio, located just north of Evansville, off Interstate
94.

First
Cutting
Stretch
your arms and take a deep breath: it's another glorious summer
morning in the country. The fragrance of fresh-cut hay
fills our senses, the only visible sign of human presence - the
neatly rolled bales. Created
en plein aire, this
is a large scale contemporary American
impressionistic
landscape painting.

A typical scene from Minnesota farm country,

The
Ridge
Take an
afternoon trek on this winter trail through Voyageur's National Park.
Hear the crunch of snow underfoot and the wolf's distant howl;
the temperature falls with the sun
as homeward you race.

Between
Dog and Wolf
"Entre chien et loup"
is the French idiomatic expression for dusk, the artist's
favorite time of day to capture in paint.
This is a view of Oak Hill from the artist's studio window.

Canvas 24" x 28"
